Renowned director SS Rajamouli, best known for blockbuster hits like 'RRR' and 'Baahubali,' recently expressed his admiration for the Malayalam film 'Premalu,' which has been garnering widespread acclaim.
Rajamouli attended an event celebrating the success of the Telugu dubbed version of 'Premalu' in Hyderabad, where he made notable remarks about the film and Malayalam cinema.
The Telugu-dubbed version of 'Premalu' was released on March 8, with Rajamouli's son, SS Karthikeya, acquiring the dubbing rights. During the event, Rajamouli commended writer Aditya for his work on the Telugu dialogues, emphasising that the film is best experienced in theatres due to its comedic elements.
Despite not being a fan of the rom-com genre, Rajamouli admitted to surprisingly enjoying 'Premalu' and lauded the performances of the actors.
In a candid moment, Rajamouli confessed, "It is with jealousy and pain that I admit the Malayalam film industry produces better actors." He particularly praised Mamitha Baiju, comparing her talent to acclaimed actresses Sai Pallavi and Geethanjali, and expressing his belief in her potential. Rajamouli's remarks shed light on the high standards of acting prevalent in Malayalam cinema.
The initial release of 'Premalu' in Malayalam on February 9 featured Naslen K. Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju in prominent roles, bolstered by a talented supporting cast.
Produced by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan, and Syam Pushkaran under Bhavana Studios, the film has achieved significant commercial success, ranking as the fifth highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. Its Tamil version is slated for release on March 15, further extending the film's reach to audiences across different regions.
