Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede's father Dhyandev Kachruji Wankhede has filed a defamation case cabinet minister Nawab Malik. In the suit filed at Bombay High Court, Wankhede has said that the statements made by Malik have defamed his family.?
He said that his statements in interviews and social media are "tortious and defamatory in nature".
His counsels also argued that the claims made by Malik -- like calling the entire family a fraud and raising questions about their religious beliefs by saying they were not Hindus -- is affecting his entire family adversely including his daughter Yasmi's legal practice.
He has sought compensation for "irreparable loss, damage, harm, prejudice to the name, character, reputation and societal image of plaintiff and his family members", as per livelaw.in.??
?Meanwhile, the NCB on Friday said that a total of six cases including the cruise ship case in which Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested will now be taken over by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). "No officer or officers have been REMOVED from their present roles and they will continue to assist the Operations Branch investigation as required until any specific orders are issued to the contrary. It is reiterated that the NCB functions across India as a single integrated agency," it said.
Wankhede, meanwhile, has denied any wrongdoing.?
