Veteran Hollywood actor and filmmaker Sean Penn, who had recently returned from war-torn Ukraine, has been diagnosed positive for COVID-19.Penn had to skip the Directors Guild of America Awards held on Sunday, March 12.?
Penn was supposed to present an award to Anderson for his Oscar-nominated film, Licorice Pizza. During his thank-you speech, Anderson even lauded Penn and his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.?
In his speech, Paul said,?
"Which is kind of crazy considering what he's done for all of us. [It's like] a World War I veteran coming home, slipping on a step. So, it's a drag not to have him here. It's a pleasure to work with him and all the actors. It's the best part of this job that we all have...and I feel very grateful to be here.'?
While Penn made a safe return to his home country US in March, he did reveal that he and his crewmates had to abandon their cars while crossing the Ukrainian border.?
Sharing a picture of the same on Twitter, Pen wrote,?

"Myself & two colleagues walked miles to the Polish border after abandoning our car on the side of the road. Almost all the cars in this photo carry women & children only, most without any sign of luggage, and a car their only possession of value."
