The film, which was announced years back, released after much delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, Aamir Khan had previously mentioned in media interviews that it was difficult for the team to acquire the remake rights of Hollywood's 1994 film Forrest Gump.?

According to reports, many from Bollywood has been planning to remake Forrest Gump for decades.?
It was Shah Rukh Khan, who was approached for reprising Tom Hanks' role in the remake of forrest Gump at the time. Moreover, reports suggest that getting the remake rights was a task altogether in the ¡¯90s.?Makers had to make significant changes to the script in order to remake the film.?

As per reports, Kundan Shah back then had said that Anil Kapoor walked out of the project after realizing the dedication required to make such a film. Apparently, the lack of diplomacy didn¡¯t go well with Anil Kapoor and he left. Kundan Shah then roped in Shah Rukh Khan and wanted to finish the film fast. However, due to production problems the film got shelved forever.
