Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur best known for his film Masoom, recently took to X (Twitter) to share that Nestle baby milk took the lives of countless infants after wrongfully convincing mothers that their breast milk lacked the necessary nutrition for baby growth. This comes after social media influencer and educator Revant Himatsingka aka Food Pharmer recently talked about baby food substitutes and how the advertising of these products was banned in?1992 due to the efforts of?Dr Arun.?
In his post, Kapur revealed that a lot of babies died as "water that powdered milk was mixed with water that was contaminated". This happened because mothers would prefer giving them Nestle baby milk as its advertisement convinced them that it was better than their breast milk, which was not the case.?
He wrote this quoting FoodPharmer's tweet in which he revealed how the Infant Milk Substitutes Act passed in 1992 banned all forms of baby food ads due to the efforts of Dr Arun. Under this act, the promotion of infant formulas, infant milk substitutes, and infant foods is banned, and hence, no Bollywood celebrity now promotes it.?
Kapur said that babies all over the world had started to reject mother's milk as they got addicted to Nestle products which perhaps had high sugar content.?
