Despite giving a blockbuster song Amabarsariya,?Sona Mohapatra's journey in the entertainment industry wasn't easy. She is one of the celebrities who have raised their voice about the unfair practices in the industry.?
After AR Rahman claimed that a gang in Bollywood spread false rumours about him that stopped him from getting work, she claimed that her husband Ram Sampath was also targetted by "Illiterate Gang".
?
Now, reacting to Zoya Akhtar's recent interview where she spoke about nepotism, Mohapatra stated that she doesn't agree with her stance.?
"Your privilege need not be ur guilt but it need not make you so glib, condescending & smug.Of course u cannot ¡®change¡¯ ur parents. But what u can do is recognise the fortune, opportunities u were born into.Use ur privilege to bring fairness & balance? No. ¡®Will not share MY cake¡¯," she wrote.
When a Twitter user asked Sona to watch the entire interview before jumping to conclusion, she shared, "I don¡¯t judge by headlines but by having experienced the workings of this self-serving lot year after year. You are free to lap up/watch a ¡®glib family¡¯ ¡®chat¡¯ & call it an ¡®interview¡¯. I see it for what it really is; a hedonistic exercise designed to hoodwink the public."
Furthermore, lashing out at the Akhtar family, she said that Farhan Akhtar and Javed Akhtar never liked the song. She added that she was never given a second chance.?
"Not very subtle.( FYI, Ambarsariya; both Javed & Farhan Akhtar were hostile/hated it.Only song Excel didn¡¯t bother to shoot a music video for, montage got cut after much. Long story there but of course it¡¯s no surprise why I never got a ¡®second chance¡¯. Stood up to the master,¡± she wrote.?
The song was however a superhit.?Sona however?deleted the tweet that mentioned Javed Akhtar and Farhan.
Zoya, daughter of lyricist Javed Akhtar,an interview with India Today said she cannot change who she is born to. ¡°It is not about inside-outsider, it is basically that people are angry about haves and have-nots in the country. This is playing out in the industry because this is a soft target. It¡¯s not about making movies on getting a break, you want to be a star, you want to be invited to that party, and nobody can help you with that. And all I want to say is, no matter what anybody says I am not going to change my parents or my career, so now live with it.
