Javed Akhtar thinks that the 20th and 21st century is a time of schizophrenia where people have split personalities. The renowned Bollywood lyricist and screenwriter who calls himself an atheist made this statement at an event in Mumbai. While saying so, he gave an example of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists and indirectly called them?schizophrenics.?
He was quoted as saying, "A man in India from ISRO, who can send a rocket to the precise place of moon... But moon had Chandra Lok, devi-devtas used to live there, you are sending a rocket there, and the moment you send it, you go out and you go to the temple. This is schizophrenia. It has happened for the first time in human history where your own knowledge and information, which you own, and your faith are not on the same page".?
Not just that, he also said that all religions have their roots in the dark ages. Giving another analogy, he said that their?umbilical cord has not been cut from the dark ages. He said this at?Expresso, a conversation series that was held in Mumbai.
For the unversed, ISRO scientists visited?Tirumala Tirupati Sri Venkateswara Temple at the launch of?Aditya L1 on September 2 to pray for the success of India's first solar mission. Akhtar was perhaps talking about his incident.?Space agency chief S Somanath, who is hailed as the?hero of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, had once said that he explores both science as well as spirituality after a temple visit.?
Meanwhile, Javed Akhtar was last seen in?Angry Young Men, a docu-series that explored his life, story, and collaboration with?Salim Khan. Do you agree with his opinion on religion and?schizophrenia? Let us know in the comments section below.
