Bollywood actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has called Congress MP Rahul Gandhi a "stand-up comedian" for his controversial remarks on Hindu religion during his first speech as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha on Monday. "I have said, Rahul Gandhi did a good standup comedian act because he made all our gods and goddesses, brand ambassador of Congress," she was quoted as saying by ANI.?
Ranaut added, "He said that the hand raised by Lord Shiva in blessing is the 'hand' of Congress, these are his statements, this was his speech, so we were already laughing...He said those who raise their hands for Allah are also the hands of Congress."
Demanding Gandhi to apologise for his remarks, she added, "His main complaint was that when Raja Beta (Rahul Gandhi) comes, PM Modi doesn't greet him...so you can understand what sort of a standup comedy act it was.?He (Rahul Gandhi) even brought the pictures of God and placed it on the desk, while we know it should always be kept inside the temple. He insulted Hindu gods...he even said that the Hindu religion and those who follow it are violent in nature...I think he should apologize for his statements."

Gandhi accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of spreading "violence, hatred and lies," which, he said, were against the basic tenets of Hinduism advocated by Lord Shiva.
Speaking on the Motion of Thanks on the President¡¯s Address, Gandhi said, "This is a country of non-violence, not that of fear. Our saints spoke of non-violence.?Shiv ji ne kaha daro mat, darao mat¡ ahimsa ki baat karte hain¡ apne trishul ko zameen mai gaadh dete hai, aur jo log apne aap ko Hindu kehte hai, wo 24 ghante hinsa, hinsa, hinsa¡nafrat, nafrat, nafrat¡asatya, asayta, asatya. Aap Hindu ho hi nahi?(Lord Shiva said one should not be fearful or scare others. He spoke of non-violence. And these people who call themselves Hindus spread violence, hatred and lies round the clock. You are not Hindus)".
He added, "Hindu religion clearly states that one should stand with the truth, not retreat from the truth."

His statement caused a furore in the parliament with many including Prime Minister Narendra Modi standing up and saying, "This is a very grave issue. Calling the entire Hindu community violent is very serious."
In his defense, Gandhi said, "Modi, BJP and the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) don¡¯t represent all Hindus. The BJP does not have a monopoly over Hindu religion."
It is said that PM Modi will reply to the debate on the Motion of Thanks on Tuesday afternoon..
