First of all, Sonam Kapoor is not going to dance at King Charles III's coronation ceremony. She is going to perform a word piece - which means she will deliver a?prelude to the inspiring virtual choir performance by the Commonwealth, combining choirs, solo artists and duos from the 56 Commonwealth countries, along with Steve Winwood, who will deliver a modern version of his iconic song Higher Love to be accompanied by a 70-piece orchestra.
Sonam Kapoor is the only Indian celebrity ever to have been invited to dine with the royal, yet as the word spread that she is going to perform there, people started trolling her left, right and centre.?
In a statement, the Neerja actress said, "I am honoured to join the Commonwealth virtual choir for this ceremony, celebrating His Majesty's love for music and art. It's a momentous occasion that signifies a commitment to a positive, inclusive, and optimistic future for the United Kingdom, with the Choir's music paying tribute to the royal legacy and promoting unity, peace, and joy."
She will be joined by stars like?Katy Perry, Lionel Richi,?Hugh Bonneville, Andrea Bocelli, Bryn Terfel, Freya Ridings, Alexis Ffrench and a collaboration of five Royal patronages among others.
Tom Cruise, Joan Collins and Tom Jones will also join virtually.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 6.?Westminster Abbey in London. At the ceremony, King Charless III will be crowned as the King along with Camilla as the Queen Consort.
It's an official ceremony where a soverign is crowned as the king by officially placing the crown on a monarch's head. Charles had automatically become King the moment Queen Elizabeth II died.
