Sonu Sood has turned out to be a messiah, a new Sushma Swaraj, for the migrant workers. For more than a month, millions of people -- jobless and hungry -- struggled, walked for several kilometers in order to reach their homes.
While the government couldn't ensure an efficient way of sending these people home, Sonu Sood has been doing exactly what the centre and state governments took an oath to do. Moved their plight, he is sending more and more people home.
As per a report on Spotboye, he sent more migrant workers, labourers and students stuck in Mumbai to their homes today. Not only he came there to bid them goodbye, he also indulged into conversations with them. He asked them to wear masks and return to Mumbai when things are better. "All the best. Wapas zaroor aana," he says.
Meanwhile, Sonu Sood has launched a toll free number to facilitate the migrants to reach their home. The actor has transported workers to far off states such as Karnataka, Bihar, Jharkhand and UP. Now he has launched a toll free number - 18001213711 through which one can reach out to Sood's team for help.
"I was getting a lot of calls... thousands of calls everyday. My family and friends were busy collecting the data then we realised we might miss out on a lot of people who we will not be able to approach us. So we decided to open this call centre, it is a toll free number," Sood told PTI.?
"We have a dedicated team working on it, trying to reach out to maximum people and contact each and every person. We don''t know how many people we will be able to help but we will try," he added.
Meanwhile, people have been joking that Akshay Kumar will next be featuring in Sonu Sood biopic. Taking the joke forward, director Sanjay Gupta texted Sood, "Brother in his next film Akshay Kumar is going to play Sonu Sood! Can I get the rights please?"
To this he responded with laughing emojis.
A Twitter user recently asked Sonu, "Bhaiya, girlfriend se hi milwa dijiye. Bihar hi jaana hai. (Brother, help me reach my girlfriend. I need to go to Bihar)."?
To this, he responded, "Thode din door reh ke dekh le bhai, sache pyaar ki pareeksha bhi ho jayegi."
