From Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan to Alia Bhatt's Darlings, from Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha to Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera, almost every film that was released recently became a target of online hate for some or the other reason.?
Aamir and Akshay have both pleaded to the audiences to not boycott or ban films. They have apologised to the audiences if they feel hurt by something they did. However, the boycott trend doesn't refuse to die down.?
He says considering the situation at the moment, he couldn't have made a film like?Gangs of Wasseypur or Black Friday. He says he has many scripts ready but people are not ready on making these films.?
"Today if I have to make a Black Friday or a Gangs of Wasseypur, I donĄ¯t think I can make it. Because I have seen it, I have tried to, I have written a lot of scripts but there are no takers. There are no takers for a lot of films which are remotely about politics or religion", he was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.?
"We are living in very strange times. Two years later, Sushant Singh Rajput still trends everyday. These are strange times, where everything is to be boycotted. It is not just one side, it is happening across. Everyone is being boycotted: political parties, Indian cricket team, everyone. This country now has a boycott culture. if you are not being boycotted, then you donĄ¯t matter".
Anurag Kashyap had recently opened up on why Hindi films aren't making money at the box office while South Indian film, on the other hand, are blockbuster hits. As per him, Bollywood movies aren't culturally rooted. He said that people who cannot even speak in fluent Hindi are making Hindi movies. When mainstream filmmakers make their kind of movies, they work, Kashyap added.?
