‘Thought of dating makes me feel physically sick’: UK rapper Tulisa Contostavlos, reveals she is 'demisexual; know what it means

Tulisa Contostavlos, a.k.a Tula Paulinea Contostavlos, the popular UK singer and TV personality, recently opened up about her sexuality on a reality show called 'I'm A Celebrity'...Get Me Out of Here! , in a candid conversation with her other team members on the show, she revealed that she is 'demisexual' and has been celibate for over three years now.?

Mentioning about the same, Tulisa said, "I feel like I'm demisexual; I need to have a really close emotional bond with someone...I need actual depth. I'm a slow burner. I've been celibate for over three years."

"For me, it's all about the connection and the emotions that I feel with someone and then wanting to express them in that way,” she mentioned.?

For the 36-year-old singer from London, romantic relationships make her feel physically sick. Describing how she approaches a relationship with someone, she said, “I’m not an overly sexualised person…For me, it’s all about the connection and the emotions that I feel with someone and then wanting to express them in that way.”

She went on to say that she had a profile made on Raya (a dating app for celebrities), but for her, the thought of dating makes her feel physically sick. She said the thought of dating "genuinely makes me feel physically sick.".?

But what does ‘demisexual’ mean?

Demisexuality is a sexual orientation. According to the Cleveland Clinic, people who identify as demisexual only feel sexually attracted towards someone after they have formed a strong emotional bond with them.?

Compared to the general population, most individuals who are demisexual hardly feel sexual attraction. On the other hand, some may have little or no interest in sexual activity.?
