KuchKuch Hota Hai clocks 23 years and till date, it is one of the most loved filmsof Shah Rukh Khan. However, the film is sexist and there is no denying it.
The filmshows how Rahul and Anjali (played by Kajol) are best friends. However, hetotally forgets Anjali after the arrival of Tina (played y Rani Mukerji) and thisis something that wasn¡¯t acceptable by fans.
Andtoday after 23 years of the film's release, Rani Mukerji was asked about the sexism thatthe film has. In an interaction with India.com, she said,
"Falling inlove is something very subjective to each person and we can't judge a personfor their choices because, at the end of the day, it's your heart. You can'tdirect your heart to do things that a particular person would feel is morallyright or morally wrong. What might come across right to you might be wrong forthe other person. I think considering all the flaws that we all are livingwith, we should not sit and judge others for what they are doing.¡±

Sheeven defends Rahul¡¯s character,
?¡°I wouldn't categories Rahul's love to be onlyabout just the 'look' - like he fell for Tina only because of her appearance. What also drove Rahul to like Tina was the fact that she was not like the othergirls who became friends with him on the very first day." She also statedthat Tina was more than a pretty face and those things attracted Rahul.
"Iwon't categorise it as 'he went for someone who looked great and not for Anjaliwho was more of a tomboy.' I won't make it as frivolous as that. I would saythat there was a lot of depth to Tina's character for someone like Rahul tohave fallen for her because at the end of it, it was Tina who understood thelove that Rahul and Anjali had for each other. She, in turn, makes her daughterreunite the two of them. You know that Tina had a lot of depth along with beinga good-looking girl".
