'I Cried A Lot' Urvashi Dholakia Recalls The Time She Didn't Have Rs 1500 For Kids' School Fees
Urvashi Dholakia was six years old when she made her debut in an advertisement. Since then she has done a variety of roles including shows like?Dekh Bhai Dekh,?Zamana Badal Gaya and Shaktimaan among others. But her claim to fame was Ekta Kapoor's?Kasautii Zindagii Kay.?
With her varied Bindis, deep Kohl, chiffon sarees, glossy lipsticks,?Komolika Basu in?Kasautii Zindagii Ki became a household name. There was a time when she would work for 36 hours at a stretch. "I barely was home. I would come for 20 mins, take a shower and start work again." This was in the early 2000s when?Dholakia was doing six shows at the same time, she had told TOI.?
There was also a time when she was dealing with major financial issues. She didn't have money to pay for his twins' school fees.?
"I still remember, I was given one pilot episode [ for a show] and at the time I needed some three thousand rupees for the school fee of my kids. Since it was a pilot they [the makers] told me ¡®no, there will be just half the payment¡¯. That time I cried a lot because I didn¡¯t know what to do.? Where do I get the remaining fifteen hundred rupees from, how do I ask for it from my parents. I had certainly come back to them, but with the thought that I will be independent whatever needs to be done, I¡¯ll do it myself," she had earlier told Rajeev Khandelwal in his show Juzz Baat.
Urvashi Dholakia added that people even questioned at that time, "Who asked you to have kids this early?"
"You feel 'what am I gonna do I don't have Rs 1500 to pay for my child's education.' You feel bad, you feel let down, but today when I look back at that time I feel I have done well for myself. Life gives you a lot of obstacles, but you have got to just move on," she told?Pinkvilla.
Did you know?Urvashi Dholakia got married at the age of 16? She embraced motherhood at the age of 17 and soon after that, she had to part ways with her husband becoming a single parent.?
When she was asked why she didn't marry again, she said that she was so busy working and taking care of her kids that she never got time to think about her personal life.
She was briefly dating?Anuj Sachdeva, which whom she appeared on Nach Baliya as well. She was also rumoured to be dating Sajid Khan. However, she rubbished such claims.?
