The internet voiced its opinions after Nayanthara criticised actor-director Dhanush for not granting her a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to utilise songs from the movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in their upcoming Netflix documentary. While some people thought Nayanthara was correct, others took Dhanush's side. Amid this, an old video of Nayanthara apologising to Dhanush for her performance has gone viral.
A video from the 2016 Filmfare Awards South, when Nayanthara won Best Actress-Tamil for her role in her husband Vignesh Shivan's romantic action comedy Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015), was posted by a number of X users. Nayanthara, while accepting the award, apologised to Dhanush since he apparently did not like her work in the movie.?
?In the video, Nayanthara said, "Thank you Dhanush for initiating NRD (Naanum Rowdy Dhaan), and I have to say I am sorry also. Dhanush absolutely hated my performance in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Sorry Dhanush for disappointing you with my performance. I'll probably make it better next time,¡±
For the unversed, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was produced by Dhanush under Wunderbar Films. In addition, Vijay Sethupathi also starred in the movie starring Nayanthara.
Vignesh Shivan shared his thoughts on the controversy on social media. In her open letter, Nayanthara revealed that after two years of not acknowledging their requests, Dhanush gave them a legal notice for utilising a three-second behind-the-scenes film from the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. He has since sought Rs 10 crore for the footage. Vignesh then posted the talked-about music video to his Instagram Story for people to watch it for free.
