Bengali singer Rupankar Bagchi, who was trolled over a video post on social media in which he questioned late singer KK's singing talent just hours before his sudden demise has apologised for his comments on Friday at a press conference.?
The popular Bengali singer said that he had never imagined that he would be subjected to such widespread trolling on social media for one comment. Apart from apologising for his anti-KK remarks, Rupankar Bagchi has deleted the controversial post targeting the late singer from Facebook.?
Rupankar Bagchi's Facebook live video recorded a day before KK's death there are better vocalists in West Bengal than in Bollywood. However, in his apology, the singer mentioned that he didn't want to belittle the iconic Bollywood singer KK.?
"What I meant to say was that people of West Bengal must be more proud of Bengali literature, identity and songs. I spoke in favour of retaining our culture. If anyone thinks otherwise, it is his/her issue," Mr Bagchi told reporters during the press conference after being trolled on social media over the anti-KK Facebook video.?
"I felt sad and shocked to learn about KK's death. This was not the age to die. He had so much to offer. He was a great singer," the Bengali singer further said.?
The singer said that he has also received threatening messages for his anti-KK comment.?
¡°There have been threatening messages on my wife¡¯s mobile. So I apologize to KK¡¯s family members. I have also deleted my video posted on social media. I sincerely wish God would give KK peace," Rupankar Bagchi said.?
"I am of the view that we have singers like Somlata (Acharya), Iman (Chakraborty), Raghab (Chatterjee), Ujjaini (Mukherjee), Rupam (Islam) and we all sing better than KK," Rupankar Bagchi's said."KK, KK, KK...who is KK? Why so much excitement about Mumbai artistes? Learn from Odisha, Punjab and Southern industry ¨C please become Bengali first," he added, in an apparent reference to the buzz created by the Bollywood singer's visit to Kolkata.?
KK, who was born as Krishnakumar Kunnath, died on May 31 after suffering from a massive heart attack in Kolkata. He was performing at South Kolkata's Nazrul Mancha auditorium after which he complained of uneasiness and chest pain. He was rushed to the hospital, but, unfortunately died on the way.
