Deepika Padukone has been attending the prestigious Cannes Film Festival since 2017, but this year it's even more special for her. She is a part of the?nine-member jury of Cannes 2022 - four women and five men - who will jointly decide which movie will take home the prize.
About the saree that has been inspired by Bengal Tiger- the stripes have been block printed and hand-embroidered, Deepika Padukone said, "The sari is a story I will never stop telling. No matter where we are in the world, it has its place," said Sabyasachi Mukherjee...and I couldn't agree more!"?
About being a jury member and whether she sees it as a burden, Deepika Padukone says she is here to enjoy the creative process of cinema. "I think we are all aware of the fact that it is a huge responsibility. But, I think, we have also made a promise to each other yesterday that we are not going to burden ourselves with that responsibility. I think the idea is to remind ourselves of that audience, or of that young child who¡¯s grown up watching movies and been inspired."
She added, "I think cinema is such a powerful tool, such a powerful medium, it can impact people¡¯s lives and touch and influence people¡¯s lives, so, I think, to forget for the next two weeks that we have this burden and this responsibility and just enjoy the creative process¡that¡¯s sort of what we are all here to do. I think we are all creative people. I don¡¯t think any of us can judge, critique, or criticize¡I think it¡¯s just to enjoy".
For this event, Deepika Padukone wore?Mysore silk shirt with green coloured trousers. She completed her look with the Lucknow Rose, a deconstructed Maharani necklace and a headscarf.
One day before walking the red carpet, Deepika Padukone attended jury dinner at Cannes along with other jury members - actor-filmmaker Rebecca Hall, Noomi Rapace and Italian actor-director Jasmine Trinca, as well as directors Asghar Farhadi, Ladj Ly, Jeff Nichols and Joachim Trier for the dinner.
