Sonu Sood is being hailed as the real life superhero during the pandemic. He jumped to the rescue of the underprivileged. When millions of people were walkingon the road to reach home, it was Sonu who provided them with food, transportand shelter.
There are a bunch of actors inthe industry who have been doing their bit to help others but no one did it likeSonu Sood and that¡¯s why he has become a National hero.
Indiatimes got in touch with this new age Shaktimaan and had a candid chat about what made him go out of hisway to help people in this crisis and what are his future plans on the same.
We first asked Sonu, what made him think?of sending? migrants and poor people back home, to which he replied, "?It just triggered when I sawmillions of people walking on the roads and I realized that this not the time when I sit at home and tweet about it or rather complain about it. I have togo on the field and connect with them.I was actually on the food drive of 40 to 45 thousand people every day and whenI met these bunch of people who were leaving for Karnataka, I requested andtook permission to send these people home and that was the first slot of50 people I sent to Karnataka. I realized that I can make that happenthroughout the country and I started connecting to people all over - from JammuKashmir to Kanyakumari and in a span of 100 days we were able to send almostone lakh thirty thousand people."
His noble deeds made him the National hero and he rightly deserves this title, talking about it he said, "It¡¯s a huge amount of responsibilitybecause you know there are lots of expectations from people and you have tomake that happen. I have thousands of people tagging me on social media and they saythat we are in front of the hospital in Patna and we are not getting the beds, weare Hyderabad and my dad's heart is sinking can you help, so then I have tomake calls in the middle of the night to these doctors, MD¡¯s, hospitals, get thebeds and get them treated. You feel blessed that people trust you in theirdifficult times and you have to make things happen for people. I will try to keep on doingthings to the best of my ability."

When asked if he has the whole army to help him, he said, " I have my friends, Niti Goyal, one of my childhood friends, shegets the food and shelter lined up for me. There are friends who help mealong, half of my team I have never met in my life, they just got connectedwith me through social media where even they wanted to do something good in life.?We are connected with each other on the phone 24/7 and we try to make things happen. We are not trained to do it but somehow zeal to help others hasconnected us.d I personally speak to everyone right from doctors, DM¡¯s , ADM¡¯spolice to everyone in every department an get things done. I even talk to embassy¡¯sand these ambassadors from different countries, I have reinvented myself, Ifeel blessed that I can bring a smile to people's faces and reunite families.".
We quizzed about his future plans on how will he continue to help people once the pandemic is over, the actor replied, "I have already floated theSood Foundation which will help people. I don¡¯t know about the team and allbecause every day I get volunteers, but I will always be connected with peoplewho need me, I have tasted something so beautiful that I want to continue throughoutmy life. I would give my 100 percent in doing this job."
Talking about the kids he adopted, he said,
"Not 3 but 7, 3 happened in Telanganaand 4 happened in Punjab. The liquor raid ?thing that happened in Punjab, where almost100 people died and where one woman lost her husband when she saw him dead, shetoo collapsed leaving four kids behind, they became homeless so we connectedwith them, took all the responsibility right from education and everything.Today my team will meet them and give them a home and all, so I would say that Iwant to thank God that right people reach out to me and so that I can help in every way."
He said,?
"There are so many successfulpeople around us buthow many of us have actually come out and made an effort to help others. I feel that it should be a part of yourlife everyday, when you get up, you should tell your guy in the kitchen tocook extra food for one person at least be it is for your vegetable vendor oranyone else. I have seen so muchof pain in these last 20 to 25 days and I feel you can¡¯t blame the government, wecan¡¯t say we pay taxes and it is the jobof the govt, of course, it is their job and they are doing their bit, but evenyou can¡¯t sit in your house and complain about it. You should be like - if no one is doing it, I am my own government and I will do my bit and that¡¯sthe message you should spread."
Lastly, we asked the actor how does he manage the finances and if he fears losing all his money in this cause, he said, "People keep connecting withme, it is not like I am doing everything alone.?I have my friends whosupport me and the cause but I don't completely rely on somebody, I try to do my own bit. Of late, whatever endorsement I am doing, I ask them to help this orthat village, like will you put LED lights in this village or paint thevillage or rather the people in the village, so whatever brands come to me, Itell them to be a part of my cause."
