Cameron Diaz left Hollywood at the pinnacle of her career, leaving her fans in the lurch. A decade later, she is set to return and is opening up about both, her decision to leave and what made her think about a comeback. Diaz, known for films like Charlie's Angels, The Holiday, Vanilla Sky and About Mary, was last featured in 2014¡¯s?Annie.
Speaking at Fortune¡¯s Most Powerful Women Summit, the 52-year-old shared what kept her busy when she was not acting. She said, ¡°We were in the house for a long time, which was amazing. So, I had to push myself. My husband, he¡¯s just the best. He was just like, ¡®You¡¯ve been supporting us and building the family.¡¯ And supporting him in his businesses. He¡¯s like, ¡®It¡¯s time for us to support you and let mommy ascend and do her thing.
Explaining her decision to retire, Diaz said that it was something she had to do at that time. ¡°It felt like the right thing for me to do to reclaim my own life, and I just really didn¡¯t care about anything else. Nobody¡¯s opinion, nobody¡¯s success, no one¡¯s offer, no one¡¯s anything could change my mind about my decision to take care of myself and build the life that I wanted to have."
She also shared what she misses most about the filmmaking process.?"I miss aspects of acting or making movies. ¡ Making movies is a particular skill set to exercise and be a part of," she said.
