After more than a decade together, actress Natalie Portman and choreographer Benjamin Millepied have decided to part ways, according to a report by People. The shocking announcement follows lingering rumours that Millepied had been unfaithful to the Oscar-winning actress.
Despite the rumours circulating in the media, neither Portman nor Millepied addressed the infidelity speculations publicly at the time. Reports suggested that the couple had chosen to weather the storm and stay together. However, recent revelations indicate that the couple had quietly separated, and the divorce was finalised in France in February, as confirmed by a representative for Portman.
Portman and Millepied's love story began on the set of "Black Swan" in 2009, where he served as her choreographer. Their engagement followed a year later, and in 2011, Portman gave birth to their son, Aleph. The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony in Big Sur, California, in 2012. The wedding was kept under wraps, mirroring the couple's general approach to their relationship.
In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Portman expressed her disdain for the public scrutiny of her personal life. When questioned about the challenges of having her marriage dissected in the public eye, she candidly remarked, "It's terrible, and I have no desire to contribute to it."
Portman and Millepied, parents to 12-year-old Aleph and 7-year-old Amalia, are said to be focused on ensuring a smooth transition for their children amidst the divorce. According to a source close to the actress, her "biggest priority has been ensuring a smooth transition for her children" during this challenging time.
