'That woman is unexpectedly spry': Ryan Reynolds responds to neighbour Martha Stewart's 'he's not so funny' claim

A Martha Stewart and Ryan Reynolds beef was not on our 2024 bingo card, but here we go. Stewart recently broke the internet's perception of the sarcastic wisecrack Reynolds, claiming he's not as funny in real life as one would presume him to be. Ryan has now responded to Stewart's 'he's not so funny' remark, and it has restored fans' belief in his humour.

What did Martha Stewart say?

Martha Stewart is busy promoting her documentary?Martha, currently streaming on Netflix. During an appearance on?Bilt Rewards'?Rent Free?game show?this week, Stewart told host Ankur Jain that Reynolds, the internet's go-to person for a good chuckle, is "not so funny" in real life.

?During a segment when she was required to work out the top three celebrities that the public believed would be fun to hang out with, she quickly listed Ryan's name.

?“He’s probably on the list just ‘cause he covers himself up in his movies and you don’t see his face—Ryan Reynolds, is he one of those?” She asked before adding, “And you want to know something? He’s not so funny in real life. No, he’s not so funny. He’s very serious.”?"Maybe he can get to be funny again. I’m going to get in trouble. He’s my neighbour," she noted playfully.

?Two others she thinks are not so fun to hang out with are Snoop Dogg and a friend of the Reynolds family, Taylor Swift.

Ryan Reynolds claps back!

Ryan Reynolds was not going to let this one pass. The Deadpool & Wolverine actor probably saw his name trending on X (formerly known as Twitter) and quickly came online to respond to Martha's claim.

"I'd disagree with her. But I tried that once. The woman is unexpectedly spry," he jokingly wrote on X. "She really closed the gap after a mile or so."

Stewart, known for speaking her mind, has been living next to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds after the couple bought a $2 million home in Bedford, New York, near the lifestyle guru's 153-acre farm in 2012. They've since changed houses but are still neighbours to Stewart.?

While Reynolds' fans are now rallying against Stewart online, it could all just be a friendly neighbourhood banter for all we know.?
