Disha Patani will soon be seen alongside Suriya in Kanguva, which marks her Tamil debut. The fantasy drama has created a great deal of buzz among fans as it marks the mass hero¡¯s first collaboration with Siva, the director of films such as Siruthai and Vedalam. Going by its grand scale, the film has the potential to be a gamechanger for the Malang star.?
Interestingly, Disha was initially supposed to make her Tamil debut with Sundar C¡¯s Sangamithra but the film failed to take off. After this, she decided to focus on her Bollywood career and carved a niche for herself in the Hindi film industry with films such as Bharat and Radhe.?
Sundar C, a popular name in the Tamil film industry, tried to add a new dimension to his career with Sangamithra. The film was launched in 2018 with Shruti Haasan and Jayam Ravi in the lead. The 3 star, however, opted out of the film and claimed that the makers ¡®did not give her a bound script¡¯.?
Disha Patani was then roped in to replace Shruti. In a statement issued to the media in 2018, she expressed excitement about playing a warrior princess in the biggie. She also praised Shruti Haasan and clarified that she is ¡®no one to replace her¡¯.
The film, however, failed to materialise despite the change in the cast and Sundar C moved on to other projects. Earlier this year, Sundar hinted at reviving the project and added that it will be released in two parts. Despite this, there is no clarity about whether the fantasy period drama will take off in the near future.
Coming back to the present, Disha Patani is awaiting the release of Kanguva. The film, slated to hit the screens on November 14, features her as the leading lady opposite Suriya. The Siva-directed fantasy drama centres on the themes of ¡®resurrection¡¯ and ¡®forgiveness¡¯ The exact plot, however, is still under wraps. Its cast also includes Bobby Deol and Yogi Babu.?
Disha, who was seen with Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD earlier this year, is currently working on Welcome To The Jungle. The film features an ensemble cast headlined by Akshay Kumar. The Ahmed Khan-helmed film has little in common with the previous installments of the Welcome franchise.??
