Anurag Kashyap's Gangs Of Wasseypur brought so many great actors to the limelight. From Rajkummar Rao, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi,?Jaideep Ahlawat, a lot of critically accalimed actors including Faisal Malik aka Prahalad Pandey who is winning heats after the release of Panchayat season 3 made their acting debut with GOW. Not just that, do you Kashyap and Malik even started a company together??
Faisal Malik came to Mumbai at the age of 22 to become an actor. He thought this was going to be a shortcut to earning money. From sleeping on railway stations to skipping meals, the financial woes were a constant struggle until he landed a job in a TV channel and started learning the art of editing.?

Malik, who was working as an editor, had met Kashyap through his friends and expressed his wish to become a producer.?"I lived in Aaram Nagar (Andheri, northwest Mumbai), where his office was. Anurag sir was making films while I was working for television. One day, I told him I wanted to become a producer," he told Refiff in an interview.?Later both of them ended up starting a production company together. They even made a pilot episode for a show on Star TV. However, things didn't work out, and both of them went their separate ways.?
Years later, when Kashyap was making his iconic film Gangs of Wasseypur, he called him and gave him his first acting break. He was initially working behind teh cameras but because of low-budget, even the crew was given acting roles. From spotboye to driver, everyone acted in the film. He played the role of a Inspector Gopal Singh. By now, Faisal was not interested in acting, he did GOW but didn't want to continue doing that. "Just after?Wasseypur, I was offered eight cop roles! I refused most, but I took up?Fraud Saiyaan?and?Black Widows?because the directors were my friends," he said.?
He was offered Panchayat, after director?Deepak Kumar Mishra and writer Chandan Kumar saw his work in Gangs of Wasseypur. "I wasn't sure about taking it up because I was not sure whether I could pull off the role. But they convinced me. Plus, the show was well written. It is very tough to write comedy, so I agreed", he told Rediff.?

After the grand success of Panchayat, his phone is constantly ringing and he is getting numerous offers. "Now, I am getting good offers but some of them are in the same zone so I had to refuse three scripts. Pehle kaam nahi tha uski struggle thi, ab zyada kaam aane laga to uska dar hai. As an actor, I am getting my due after 20 years and I am going with the flow but will keep producing shows as that¡¯s the vertical I have built in all these years," he told Hindustan Times in an interview.
