In Mahabharata, Kalki is mentioned briefly but significantly. He is described as the final avatar of Vishnu who will appear at the end of the Kali Yuga to restore righteousness (dharma) and eradicate the prevailing corruption and evil. Kalki's arrival will mark the end of the Kali Yuga and the beginning of a new cycle, the Satya Yuga or Krita Yuga, which is characterized by truth and righteousness.
The Kalki Purana, a text dedicated to the prophecy of Kalki, provides a more detailed account of his life and mission.?
Kalki is prophesied to appear at the end of the Kali Yuga. However, the exact timing is not specified in the scriptures and remains a matter of interpretation. The Kali Yuga is said to last for 432,000 years, and we are currently a few thousand years into it, meaning Kalki's arrival is often considered to be far in the future. Many argue Kali Yuga began?5,125 years ago after the death of Lord Krishna. Going by this theory,?426,875 years are left before Kalki arrives on Earth. As per Vishnu Purana,?Kalki will be born to a Brahmin family. His father will be named Vishnuyasha, and his mother will be Sumati.
