As South Films Are Ruling Box Office, These Much-Awaited Bollywood Films Turned Out To Be Duds
While South Indian movies like Pushpa: The Rise and K.G.F: Chapter 2 and RRR are ruling the box office, Bollywood films are far behind. The only film in a long time that has made a mark is The Kashmir Files. Gangubai Kathiawadi also did relatively well. Even Salman Khan wondered "why our films are not doing so well in the south. Their films are doing so well here." Even Bollywood stars like Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt have started to take up even smaller roles in South films.??

Antim: The Final Truth
Even since it was announced that Salman Khan is playing the role of a Sikh cop, his fans went berserk. Salman who has a massive fan following couldn't save the film from drowning at the box office.?
About the failure of the film, Salman told The Times of India, "I think it is doing much better because of the word of mouth that I am in the film. Earlier people thought I was there in the film for only 5-15 minutes. However, it is untrue. That rumour died down after people watched the movie."
The Mahesh Majrekar directorial, which starred Aayush Sharma, opened to a disappointing collection of Rs 5.03 crore at the box office.?Reportedly made on a budget of 45 crores, the film minted a little more i.e. 58 crores including Rs 46.50 crore in India and Rs 11.87 crore overseas.? ?

Kabir Khan's sports biopic did not only capture the emotions behind the success story of India's first world cup win, but it also delivered a well-researched movie. Despite the fact that people love two things in India - cricket and movies - a collaboration of two in 83 bombed at the box office. This is also because of the arrival of the third wave of Covid-19 when the movie had just been released.?
Despite crossing Rs 100 crore mark on the sixth day of release, the footfall decreased immensely and the movie only managed to gross Rs 193.73 crore worldwide. It was made on a budget of Rs 280 crores.
Bachchan Pandey
The fans of? Akshay Kumar had been waiting with bated breath for the movie.?The movie also starred Pankaj Tripathi, Arshad Warsi, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Prateik Babbar. While people thought it would be an action-packed entertainer, the storyline failed to impress the audiences.
Even Arshad Wasi had laughed when a journalist called the 'Bachchan Pandey' a success, he said, "Don’t lie, it is not a success." He then added, "It was a good film, but unfortunately it happened, some things work, some things don’t. I feel it just went through a bad patch, there were various things that made it not as successful as it should have been. It is a big film, it should’ve made a lot more money, but it is still not a loss, it covered it’s money."
Made on a budget of Rs 185 crores, the movie grossed Rs 68.61 crores worldwide.
Attack: Part 1?
?The John Abrahan-starrer science fiction action drama film made a lot of buzz for being first Indian super soldier film but eventually, it turned out to be a disappointing version of what people had seen in films like Iron Man and Captain America. Rakul Preet Singh stars as a scientist in the movie. While many fans believed this was just the beginning for Indian avengers, the movie turned out to be underwhelming.?
Made on a budget of Rs 70 crores, Attack: Part 1 grossed Rs 22.58 crore at the box office.
Jhund
Despite being applauded by critics, the film failed to attract audiences to the cinema halls.?The movie is based on the inspiring life story of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer and starred Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role.
Made on a budget of 22 crores, the movie earned Rs 15.2 crores at the box office.?
Satyameva Jayate 2?
Based on the fight against injustice and misuse of power, Satyameva Jayate 2 is the sequel of 2018 movie. Unlike the original film, this John Abraham starrer was a box office dud.?
?John Abraham had taken responsibility for the failure of the film. "It wasn’t Milap’s fault. He as a director bought a concept to me. Nikhil Advani as the producer, Milap and me as an actor all signed in for this concept. It can’t be the mistake of one person. I take full responsibility for it".?
He also told Indian Express that the people who write him off after the failure of a film came back to him asking for work. "They keep writing me off after every film. And there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s okay. My point is very simple, all these people who have written me off today probably half of them have come to me for work as writers. Maybe they need some help. I try and help as much as I can."?
Made on a budget of Rs 95 crores, the movie only minted Rs 17.3 crores at the box office.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui
While every Ayushmann Khurrana film has captivated the audiences in the past, this one slightly failed to do so. The movie explores the challenges faced by a transwoman, but it failed to live up to the expectations. The trans community applauded Abhishek Kapoor for making a film on such a topic, but it was also criticised for not casting a transwoman for the role. While the idea was good, it couldn't be executed properly.?
Made on a budget of Rs 39 crores, the movie grossed Rs 38.5 crores at the box office.?
Badhaai Do
While Badhaai Do was a theatrical flop, it managed to earn money through its release on OTT. While Badhaai Ho starring Aysuhmann Khurrana,?Neena Gupta with Gajraj Rao and Surekha Sikri had created a storm at the box office, its sequel starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar failed to impress the audiences.
Made on a budget of Rs?35?crores, the movie's box office collection was around Rs 28.3 crores.?
Bunty Aur Babli 2
The 2005 film starring Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan was a commercial success. However, Bunty Aur Babli 2 failed to make the same noise. First, the audiences were disappointed that Abhishek Bachchan wasn't cast in this one and then the storyline failed to impress them despite a stellar cast that included Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh in the lead roles.
The movie earned Rs 22 crores worldwide at the box office and was made on a budget of Rs 30 crores.
