Forget the newcomers. Forget the flashier titles. The real winners this Friday (February 7th) are two of the most highly-buzzing re-releases. Overpowering Khushi Kapoor-Junaid Khan¡¯s Loveyapa and Himesh Reshammiya¡¯s Badass Ravi Kumar are Christopher Nolan¡¯s 2014 film Interstellar and 2016¡¯s Hindi romantic Sanam Teri Kasam. The latter two are dominating the advance booking numbers and we are in for this ride.
As per a data set received by?Bollywood Hungama?on 6th February at 10 am, the Nolan epic has sold a jaw-dropping 48,900 tickets across the top national chains ¨C PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis. The film¡¯s premium weekend rates and nostalgic appeal make it the go-to pick for cinephiles. The momentum is building, and Interstellar even after 11 years is showing no signs of slowing down.??
In a battle that¡¯s closer than expected, Himesh Reshammiya¡¯s Badass Ravi Kumar (BRK) is neck and neck with the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam. BRK has sold 16,300 tickets, while Sanam Teri Kasam is slightly ahead with 16,400. Though it¡¯s a tight race, Badass Ravi Kumar is likely to stay strong with its mass appeal and action-packed thrills. Meanwhile, Sanam Teri Kasam is tapping into its loyal fanbase, aided by the attractive ?149 ticket price.??
And then, there¡¯s Loveyapa¡ or should we say, the sad-fate-Friday of the box office. With just 1,475 tickets sold in advance bookings, this romantic drama is barely making a dent. To put it into perspective, Badass Ravi Kumar has already sold over 10 times the tickets. Unfortunately for Loveyapa, it looks set to have a forgettable run at the box office with no signs of a major pick-up before release.
Too early to decide who will eventually leave a mark, stay tuned to Indiatimes as we are not missing any box office beat, quite literally!
