Renowned Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, known for his unwavering passion in every endeavour, has long harboured a desire to bring the epic saga of the Mahabharata to the silver screen.
In a candid revelation during an interview with BollywoodLife back in 2017, the superstar expressed his aspiration but cited budgetary constraints as a significant hurdle.
"It¡¯s my dream to make the Mahabharata for the screen," Khan remarked. "But I don¡¯t think I have the budget to do that. I would love to do it, but I don¡¯t think I could afford to. Unless I collaborate."
Highlighting the monumental scale he envisions for the project, Khan emphasised the need for international collaboration. "This one has to go out into the international markets," he asserted. "So you have to collaborate with someone who¡¯s international."
Drawing parallels with the grandeur of SS Rajamouli¡¯s Baahubali series, Khan articulated his vision for the Mahabharata to be of comparable magnitude, if not larger.
While Khan hinted at discussions with potential collaborators, no concrete developments have transpired yet, leaving fans eagerly awaiting further updates on this ambitious venture.
Notably, Khan isn't alone in his fascination with the Mahabharata, as fellow actor Aamir Khan has also expressed interest in bringing the ancient epic to life on the big screen.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan has an array of projects on the horizon, including action-packed ventures like YRF¡¯s Pathaan 2.
Additionally, his involvement in Sujoy Ghosh¡¯s upcoming film, rumoured to feature his daughter Suhana Khan, has generated considerable buzz.
As the industry waits with bated breath for developments on Shah Rukh Khan¡¯s Mahabharata dream, audiences can anticipate more thrilling updates on his cinematic endeavours.
