Salman Khan¡¯s Sikandar, which was released on Eid, opened to disappointing numbers at the box office. While Salman¡¯s films usually dominate opening-day collections, Sikandar earned ?26 crore on Day 1, which is significantly lower than his previous hit, Tiger 3 (?44.50 crore). The film also failed to surpass other 2025 releases like Game Changer (?51 crore), Chhaava (?31 crore), and Sankranthiki Vasthunam (?27 crore).
Despite this, Sikandar did manage to outperform Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (?13.5 crore) and Dabangg 3 (?24.50 crore) on opening day. However, compared to Salman¡¯s blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan (?27.25 crore) and Kick (?26.40 crore), it still fell short. The film, directed by A.R. Murugadoss stars Rashmika Mandanna, Prateik Babbar, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, and Sharman Joshi, with Salman playing a vigilante who takes on a corrupt politician.
As Sikandar faced underwhelming box office numbers, food and grocery delivery platform Blinkit launched an unexpected offer¡ªfree movie tickets for orders above ?1,000. The collaboration with District app was aimed at boosting theatre footfalls and increasing ticket sales. However, instead of excitement, this strategy has led to widespread mockery on social media.
Many fans questioned whether this promotional move could actually help the film, with some wondering if the movie was struggling so much that free tickets had to be distributed. Others drew comparisons with similar marketing tactics, suggesting that even giveaways might not be enough to attract audiences.
Social media platforms have been buzzing with mixed reactions to Blinkit¡¯s Sikandar promotion. One user sarcastically wrote, "Blinkit giving away free #Sikandar tickets on orders exceeding ?1,000¡ boosting box office numbers, but who¡¯s going even with free tickets?"
Another user took a harsher stance, saying, "#Sikandar is so bad that producers leaked the movie online. Swiggy and Blinkit are giving away tickets. Poor Salman fans, Bhai ruined their Eid."
Some fans, however, tried to find humour in the situation. One post read, "Time to show the Bracelet power. On ordering ?1,000 worth of bracelets from Blinkit, you will get a ?200 Sikandar voucher on District app."
The reactions highlight how Salman Khan¡¯s latest release has not lived up to audience expectations. While Blinkit¡¯s free ticket strategy might help in pushing numbers, it remains to be seen whether this move will genuinely impact Sikandar¡¯s overall box office run.
