Upendra, who suffered a setback when Kabzaa (2023) bombed at the box office, is black in the limelight with his latest film UI. The dystopian saga opened in theatres on December 20 and received mixed reviews with critics lauding the concept but complaining about the screenplay. It, however, opened to a good response at the box office despite the mixed reviews.
?Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade tracker, told India Times that?UI earned grossed Rs 10 crore in India on the first day. The majority of this came from Karnataka, the film¡¯s home market. It, however, could not make much of an impact in other markets.?
The film is expected to grow over the weekend because of Upendra¡¯s popularity in Karnataka. However, it remains to be seen if it is able to stay stable on the weekdays.?
UI is a psychological thriller that explores the showdown between a king and a man with extraordinary abilities, who manipulates the public and goes on to become a dictator. It is directed by Upendra, who also plays the lead role in the dystopian drama. Murali Sharma, Reshma Nanaiah, Jisshu, and Sadhu Kokila essay key roles in the biggie. The flick has reportedly been made on a budget of Rs 100 crore. This is the Real Star¡¯s first release after Kabzaa (2023), which proved to be a flop. He will next be seen in Coolie, starring Rajinikanth.
