The results of the Lok Sabha Election 2024 have been announced, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) surpassing the majority mark. In light of this significant victory, the Deputy Press Secretary to the President announced on June 4 that Rashtrapati Bhavan will be closed to the public from June 5 to June 9. This closure is to facilitate preparations for the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of the Council of Ministers.
In an official statement, Navika Gupta, representing Rashtrapati Bhavan, confirmed that the closure is necessary for the preparation of the swearing-in ceremony. "Visit of Rashtrapati Bhavan (Circuit-1) will remain closed for the general public from June 5 to 9, 2024, due to preparation for the forthcoming event of swearing-in-ceremony of the council of ministers at Rashtrapati Bhavan," said the statement issued by the president¡¯s office.
As of the latest updates, the NDA is leading in 292 seats, while the INDIA bloc is leading in 232 seats. According to the Election Commission of India's website, by 8:30 pm, the BJP has won 154 seats and is leading in 86 more, totalling 240 seats. In contrast, the Congress has won 62 seats and is leading in 37, totaling 99 seats.
The closure affects Circuit-1, which includes a tour of significant areas within Rashtrapati Bhavan such as the main building, forecourt, reception, Navachara, banquet hall, upper loggia, Lutyens¡¯ grand stairs, guest wing, Ashok hall, north drawing room, long drawing room, library, Durbar hall, and the Lord Buddha statue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the NDA's performance as a historic achievement. "People have placed their faith in NDA for a third consecutive time! This is a historical feat in India¡¯s history. I bow to the Janata Janardan for this affection and assure them that we will continue the good work done in the last decade to keep fulfilling the aspirations of people. I also salute all our Karyakartas for their hard work. Words will never do justice to their exceptional efforts," PM Modi said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
