Republic Day 2025: No flights will operate for 145 minutes daily at Delhi airport till January 26, here’s why

The Delhi Police has prohibited the operation of sub-conventional aerial platforms, including drones, paragliders, and quadcopters, over the national capital. This restriction, effective from January 18 to February 1, 2025, is a preventive measure to counter potential threats. A statement by the Delhi Police Commissioner highlighted that such platforms could be misused by anti-social elements or terrorists to jeopardise public safety and disrupt the celebrations.

This year's theme for Republic Day is ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,’ showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and progressive development. The celebrations will also mark the 75th anniversary of India-Indonesia diplomatic relations, with the newly-elected Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expected to be the chief guest.
