Day 6 of FDCI's Hyundai India Couture Week 2024 ended with Gaurav Gupta's astonishing collection. A globally recognised ace designer's collection was nothing short of a dream to witness with outfits ranging from festive Indian wear to garments with GG's signature style.?
The collection was named Arunodaya, which means "early dawn," and is derived from the Sanskrit words "Arun," meaning dawn, and "Udaya," meaning rise or daybreak.?
This mesmerizing phenomenon, in which the first light of day breaks through the darkness, is the soul of Gaurav Gupta's India couture line. Arunodaya represents the wondrous turning of night into day, symbolizing optimism, rejuvenation, and the limitless possibilities that come with each new beginning.
The collection featured tranquil early morning tones such as White, Ivory Pearl, Comet Blue, Petal Pink, Mauve, Slate, Sand, Bordeaux, and Lava, combining tradition with innovation.?
The daybreak narrative is brought to life with intricate embroideries such as Indian Zardozi, cage embroidery, and vivid accents.?
Sheer textiles convey the lightness of morning, while high-end couture pieces such as sumptuous lehengas, saree dresses, and draped sarees highlight Gaurav Gupta's artistry and imaginative energy.
Khushi Kapoor and Vedang Raina were showstoppers for the designer. Khushi wore a tight mermaid skirt and an off-the-shoulder top with sleeves, complete with a shoulder cape. Her costume, in a stunning Sand colour, was embellished with thousands of dripping crystals, pearls, and Zardozi embroidery.?
Vedang donned a black velvet long jacket with delicate refraction embroidery.?
Showstopper Khushi Kapoor remarked, "Walking for Gaurav for my debut walk is like entering an ethereal dream. His creations flawlessly combine fantasy and reality, and being a part of his path is a true honour." While Vedang Raina said,?"Gaurav's imaginative creativity is unequalled. His ability to turn fabric into wearable art is incredible."?
