Vinesh Phogat's grand run at Paris Olympics 2024 has come to an end. The Indian female wrestler has been disqualified as she was found overweight ahead of wrestling finals match today. She was found 100 gms overweight before the 50 kg women wrestling final match.
The Indian team at Olympics shared, "It is with regret that the Indian contingent shares news of the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat from the Women¡¯s Wrestling 50kg class. Despite the best efforts by the team through the night, she weighed in a few grams over 50kg this morning. No further comments will be made by the contingent at this time. The Indian team requests you respect Vinesh¡¯s privacy. It would like to focus on the competitions on hand."?
?Surprisingly, Vinesh Phogat was at 52 kgs on Tuesday and managed to lose 1.9 kgs overnight. Unfortunately, Vinesh Phogat will now no longer be getting any medals at the Paris Olympics.
Vinesh underwent a ligament tear surgery in August last year and doctors had reportedly advised against her losing weight as this would generally lead to weakness and injuries. However, Vinesh was determined to lose weight, participate in Olympics and win a medal for her country. She continued to lose weight and reduced her water and food in take.?
