Bollywood actor Vijay Varma has been seen in some spectacular movies like Jaane Jaan, Lust Stories, Darlings and Gully Boy. But have you ever noticed any skin condition on him. Well, the actor recently revealed he has Vitiligo. Infact, he admits to hiding it in his movies. He says he doesn't hide it for his public appearances though.
Speaking to Times Of India,?Vijay said, "See, I didn't make a big deal out of it. It is just a cosmetic thing, and it is not really anything that can change the course of your life. We make it a big deal because it is something which is out there, but I have never really made a big deal out of it. It used to worry me when I was an out-of-work actor. I would wonder if this would become an obstacle. But ever since I have been working and seeing a lot of success, it hasn't bothered me."
?It is a condition where the skin loses its pigment cells (melanocytes), resulting in white or light patches on the skin. Till date, the exact cause of vitiligo is not completely understood, but it's touted as an autoimmune response, genetic factors, or skin trauma.?
Speaking about why he hides the condition, Vijay Varma mentioned he avoids showing it in films as it could get distracting and doesn't want his fans and audience to look at anything apart from what the actor wants to show them. However, he says there is no reason to hide it at public events.
Talking further about his condition, Vijay Varma says, "People these days are very intelligent, and I feel that today's generation has an innate sense of responsibility. I have never been spoken about loosely for my skin condition. Maybe if it was some other time, then this could have possibly become a topic of discussion."?
Symptoms of Vitiligo as per Mayo Clinic includes white patches on skin, body. If condition is severe, it can even lead to lighter coloured hair and turn to white and grey.
We really hope Vijay does not hide his condition on-screen as well so that more people feel confident in their skin.
