Sandwiches are the MVP of all meals. You can have them for breakfast, for lunch and even as a snack. But if there¡¯s a sandwich out there that can easily be considered as the best one, it¡¯s the club sandwich. If you disagree, you¡¯re wrong.?
Club sandwiches aren¡¯t for the weak-hearted. Only people who like their dish to have a plethora of flavours understand the culinary value of a club sandwich.?
A club sandwich offers it all. A slice of poultry, usually chicken or turkey, b.acon cooked to the crisp, mayonnaise, a slice of cheese, iceberg lettuce and tomato. It is usually served with a side of coleslaw and potato chips/fries. It¡¯s a complete meal on its own and if you have a big appetite, you¡¯re in for a treat.
The best part is that wherever you go, you will come across different versions of the traditional club sandwich. A lot of places also serve veggie club sandwiches so that there is something for the non-meat eaters.?
If someone asked me what I would like to eat for my last meal, there is no doubt about the fact that it'll be a club sandwich. Just look at this beauty!

It will fill your stomach to the point where you won't be able to eat more but would still want to. All the ingredients used to create this masterpiece are super simple, yet if you mess up the order in which they're supposed to be layered, you've ruined the whole dish.?
The right and only way to layer a club sandwich is to lightly spread mayonnaise over toasted white bread, add a slice of poultry (chicken or turkey) and top it off with some lettuce and sliced tomatoes. Repeat the procedure when you add the second slice of bread in the middle and top it off with crispy bacon. Then you layer it up just like you did the first time and add the third and final slice of bread. The second layer is always lighter than the bottom one so that the whole sandwich does not become top-heavy.?
The main USP of the club sandwich is the shape its cut in. You're supposed to cut the sandwich along both diagonals and stick in cocktail toothpicks to hold it together. Some people also cut off the bread sides to get even-shaped triangles of the sandwich. In the end, what you get is a piece of art.
If you've grown up in India, you must be aware of the list of things that were available on the menu for a kid's birthday party back in the 90s and early 2000s. Apart from the usual pav bhaji and chowmein, variations of club sandwiches were served at the party. Takes me back to my childhood whenever I see bite-sized club sandwiches, also known as mini club sandwiches.
Looking at these lip-smacking pictures of the sandwich God, my stomach is asking me to order one. So, while I enjoy my sandwich, you should follow in my footsteps.
