International Men's Day 2024: How Gen Z is shaping a new era of modern masculinity

Not only is Generation Z the largest generation, 32% of the global population as per Bloomberg of United Nations data, but it is also the most ethnically diverse and educated in history. Employers have finally begun to pay attention as the eldest members of Generation Z enter the workforce in droves, sending companies scrambling to Google everything and everything about the latest generation.

It is time for us to get to know them better and discover what motivates this generation to challenge almost anything and everything, masculinity being one of them.?

1.?Less patriarchal

A patriarchal society is one in which men predominate and are usually seen as the head of the household or in positions of leadership.?Compared to prior generations, Gen Z is less supportive of this approach and this disagreement has been growing for long. GenZ men take pride in supporting women.?

2. In favour of same-sex marriage

Among Gen Z, same-sex marriage seems to be commonplace. The men of the Gen Z generation are not afraid to explore their sexuality and do not shy away from expressing it either.?

3. More worried about prejudice

Concern over prejudice is strong among Gen Zers compared to older generations. Heard of cancel culture? It is the result of this phenomenon. Gen Z doesn't want to deal with anything that doesn't fit their justice system and they will call it out.?

4. More emotional?

Gen Z men are embracing their emotions. The concept of "alpha males" and "Mard ko dard nahi hota" is less relevant to this generation than the previous one, barring exceptions like the followers of Andrew Tate.?

5. More stylish

With fashion and beauty trends in and out, Gen Z has welcomed fashion with open arms. Gen Z men appear to care more about fashion than men have previously ever done in India.?

Gen Z is all about trends and not brands, thrifting is a big culture among Gen Z, not to mention the fact that most of Gen Z can only afford to thrift, but let's ignore that for now.?
