Rolls Royce is famous for making luxury cars that the world¡¯s rich love to buy. The company however is not known for making SUVs. That is until now. This is the new Rolls Royce Cullinan, the company¡¯s first ever SUV. The new Rolls Royce SUV has been named after the Cullinan diamond, the world¡¯s largest ever and owned by the Queen of England.

The SUV is powered by a 6.75-litre V12 petrol engine and produces 563 bhp. That¡¯s proper sportscar territory. And it¡¯s required to power the Cullinan which weighs in at a hefty 2,600 kgs! Rolls Royce calls its aluminium chassis ¡®Architecture of Luxury¡¯!

Rolls Royce also claims that the Cullinan will have the same ¡®Magic Carpet Ride¡¯ that all other Rolls cars. This is thanks to air suspension that keeps the SUV level, whether it¡¯s being driven on roads or up hills. At the press of a button, the ground clearance can be raised and the Cullinan is ready to conquer mountains. All this opulence is mated with all round practicality ¨C the Cullinan boasts a total boot space of 1,930 litres with the rear seats folded.

Oh and there¡¯s a drinks cabinet and with whisky glasses and decanter, champagne flutes and a refrigerator for the rear seat passengers.

But it isn¡¯t a Rolls if there isn¡¯t cow skin covering everything in the cabin. And there¡¯s a lot of it in the Cullinan. A first for a Rolls is a touch sensitive screen on the dashboard. Comfort is top priority for Rolls owners and therefore there are heated seats and a heated steering wheel. On the outside is the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament sitting on the Pantheon grille.

All this luxury has a price ¨C a cool Rs 2.1 crore (US $325,000) before duties!
