Heeramandi Is Giving Rich Vintage Couture Vibes And We're Here For It
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the master storyteller known for his grand cinematic narratives, is all set to mesmerize audiences with his upcoming debut series, "Heeramandi." On Thursday, the makers unveiled its captivating solo posters, hinting at the magnificence and drama that awaits viewers.
Set against the backdrop of opulent homes of courtesans of Lahore during India's independence movement, "Heeramandi" promises to be an epic tale of love, power, betrayal, struggle, and ultimately, freedom.The stellar cast includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal.

But, the look of the cast members offers a glimpse into its rich, vintage couture vibes. The sets, costumes, and cinematography are all visually stunning, reflecting Bhansali's signature style. Royal?matha tikkas, haathphools, bold hairdos and heavy ensembles, all exuding splendour.
Sharing Aditi Rao Hydari's poster as Bibbojaan, the makers wrote, "She yearns for freedom, and not just her own."
Sanjay Leela Bhansali collaborated with noted Delhi jeweller, Shri Paramani, for each look of all the six actresses. They designed a full set of customised jewellery including real rubies, emeralds, Polki diamonds and pearls.
"Heeramandi features 200 kilograms of handcrafted jewellery which took a total of two years to create. The looks were then sent to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his team, who then picked out the best," Vinay and Anshu Gupta, Founders, Shri Paramani, had said in an interaction with reporters earlier.

Rimple & Harpreet, renowned for their exquisite craftsmanship, have reunited with the award-winning director to curate the sartorial landscape for the show. Their approach involves a meticulous study of archival textiles and a deep dive into the self-portraits of acclaimed artist Amrita Shergil, whose work serves as a wellspring of inspiration. With their masterful blend of tradition and innovation, the costumery is poised to play a pivotal role in capturing the essence of this significant chapter in Indian history.
Since the setting of the series is the 1940s, the cultural sophistication of this era reached its zenith as British influence peaked and intertwined with the traditions of nawabs and Sikhs. The costumes of the time reflected this unique blend, seamlessly evoking the timeless allure of the remarkable women who inhabited this era, embodying the spirit and grandeur of the time they represented.
Speaking of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, "I've made big films, I enjoy making those big-scale films, and it comes naturally to me. But while shifting to digital, I've taken it up a notch. Heeramandi is my biggest project; I wanted to make it really special, and I have surprised myself with this one," he said, reported news agency ANI.
