Internet comes up with a new trend almost every day and unless you don't mind being called outdated, you might want to know about them. One of these latest trends is Gatsbying, that's got everyone talking. Yeah, yeah, we know you¡¯d say that ¡°Gatsbying is not even a word,¡± but guess what? It is indeed a trend that we are all guilty of doing.?

Ever since we understood the law of attraction, whether it was in school or college, we all developed our love interests in our heads and called them our crushes. It was always someone special who we secretly loved. If you too can recall one of your crushes, do you also recall somewhat impressing them, without them actually knowing that you¡¯re trying to woo them? C¡¯mon, admit it.?

Trying to get your crush¡¯s attention, whether it was through a friend or just a chit note you passed back in the days, we¡¯ve all been there. The millennials, though, do it differently. They post a picture or a video on their social media profiles, specially, Snapchat or Instagram, just to get noticed by their crush and that my friend, is called, Gatsbying.

In the movie, Jay Gatsby turns himself into a high class man and throws multiple parties to impress just one woman. She is out of his league and the only way for him to get noticed by her is by Gatsbying her. Got the connection?

According to the New York Post, ¡° We can think of Gatsbying as a high-brow version of the Thirst Trap.¡± If you¡¯re a social media wiz kid, you already know what thirst trap is...but, if you don¡¯t, it¡¯s basically enticing someone through social media by posting a sexy picture of yourself, to get attention from your crush. The only difference between Gatsbying and Thirst Trap is that Gatsbying isn¡¯t particularly sexual and is only focused on one person. Whereas, Thirst Trap could be set for multiple crushes and not just one person.?
