Students planning to enroll themselves in Delhi University (DU) are set to get an opportunity to gain more by choosing DU for their studies.?
Undergraduate and postgraduate students at Delhi University may now have the option to pursue a joint degree or dual degree.?The university has prepared documents that propose the granting of dual degree programmes.?
In December 2022, DU had formed a committee to explore the feasibility of a joint degree programme in alignment with the provisions of the National Education Policy 2020.?
Also, a document proposing a "Twinning degree programme with Foreign Higher Education Institution (FHEI)" will be reviewed at the upcoming academic council meeting.?
For this, the foreign higher educational institutes (FHEIs) in the top 500 QS World Ranking will be considered.?
For the dual degree, in the first phase, the university plans to allow students to pursue one degree in the 'regular mode' and another in open learning 'distance mode'.?
Those interested in a dual degree are expected to notify the university through the Head of Department or college Principal.
Further, students need to fulfill all academic requirements independently for each programme. For projects or dissertations, the research theme for the two degrees is to be distinct.?
However, students could not pursue two identical academic programmes simultaneously.?
The document proposing a twin degree states that students from DU and its colleges can study for a semester in a foreign university and earn credits, contributing to their degree requirements.?
Students could be allowed to pursue one semester in a foreign university and earn credits, which shall be accounted for to secure the requisite credits for the grant of such degree to which he/she has been enrolled in the parent university, as reported by TOI.??
