A Redditor, who is a student at a Tier III engineering college in Hyderabad, recently shared a "Placement Agreement Form" for the 2026 graduating batch on the platform. The form contained guidelines such as fines ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 for students who fail to join the job offers they receive through campus placements. Additional charges were also outlined for training sessions. Shocked by the terms, the student questioned, "Is this how college placements happen everywhere in Tier 3 colleges?"

The form includes stringent guidelines such as: "Fine of Rs. 50,000 to the College (if salary is below Rs 5 lakh) and Rs 1,00,000 (if salary is above Rs 5 lakh)" if they "fail to join the job provided by the College through any medium."
Moreover, if a student undertakes an internship and then declines the full-time offer from the company,? they are to pay a "fine in the amount equal to 50% of the earned amount/ salary during internship."
The form also mandates that students are responsible for converting their internships into full-time positions.
Additionally, coding batch students are mandated to pay Rs 1 lakh fine toward training cost.
The post quickly caught attention, with many expressing disbelief at the seemingly harsh conditions imposed on students.
Many said that this is illegal and asked the student to "lawyer up and take this to court."
However, one comment points out that there are actually two sides to the coin: "Whatever the college is doing feels incorrect & is actually incorrect, But all this is going to benefit average/above average students in the current batch or future batch."
They write that while exceptional students may receive multiple job offers and switch between them, this can negatively impact the college's reputation with companies, potentially leading to fewer opportunities for future students, especially in colleges with limited placement options.
