Meet Priyal Yadav, farmer's daughter who once failed class 11 and is now a District Collector
In a world often dictated by societal expectations, Priyal Yadav was pressurised by relatives to pursue PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) in Class 11 - a path she wasn't comfortable with, leading to her failure in that standard. However, fast forward to today, the 27 year old has become a district collector.
In the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) 2021 results announced on June 6, 2024, Priyal secured the sixth rank, marking a significant achievement in her journey.
Hailing from Harda in Madhya Pradesh, Priyal's upbringing defied stereotypes.?
Despite coming from a farming background where education often takes a backseat, her parents prioritised her studies over early marriage.?
"I come from a rural area where girls typically marry young, but my parents gave me the freedom to pursue my education," she shared with PTI.
She adds, "I was a class topper till Class 10. However, due to pressure from relatives, I opted for physics, chemistry, and mathematics in Class 11 despite a lack of interest in these subjects and failed physics."
Priyal calls that the "first and last failure" of her academic life.
Since then, she has succeeded in many examinations.?
In the 2019 MPPSC exam, she secured the 19th rank and became a district registrar. Continuing her streak, she clinched the 34th rank in 2020 and was appointed as an assistant commissioner in the cooperative department.
Currently serving as a district registrar in Indore, Priyal's journey exemplifies determination and resilience.
The MPPSC SSE 2021 mains exam took place from July 17 to July 22, 2021, followed by an interview round held from April 18 to June 24, 2024, for qualified candidates.
Currently, due to a pending case in the Madhya Pradesh High Court regarding the 27% reservation for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in government jobs, the selection results for 87% of the posts have been declared. However, the outcomes for the remaining 13% of positions will be announced after the court delivers its verdict on the matter, as confirmed by an official source.
