In a significant breakthrough, an autopsy report revealed that the body of Shraddha Walkar, who her live-in-partner Aaftab Poonawala allegedly murdered, was cut up into pieces with a saw.
According to the Delhi Police, a post-mortem analysis of Shraddha Walkar's 23 bones revealed that they were cut into pieces using a saw.??
The Delhi Police may file the chargesheet in the case in the last week of January.??
Last month, reports of DNA tests also established that hair and bone samples recovered by Delhi Police were of Shraddha Walkar.?The test was conducted using DNA samples from her father, Vikas Walkar.
As per reports, traces of blood sample was recovered from a flat in Delhi's Mehrauli area, which Poonawala and Shraddha shared.
At the same time, Delhi police found the bone samples from the Mehrauli's forest area and Gurugram, with the help of revelations made by Poonawala.
The autopsy of the bones was conducted at Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS).?
Delhi Police's Special Commissioner (Law and Order) Sagar Preet Hooda has revealed that the hair and bone samples, from which the DNA could not be extracted, were sent to Hyderabad's Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) for 'DNA Mitochondrial profiling'.?
"On Wednesday, we received the result of the examination. One piece of bone and bunch of hair purported to be of deceased have matched with that of her father and brother, which establishes the identity of the bone and hair to be that of Shradha Walkar," he said.?
Meanwhile, on Friday, Shraddha Walkar's father met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He informed him about the lack of progress in the Special Investigation Team probe into the murder case of his daughter, ANI reported.
Earlier, the Maharashtra government had promised to set up an SIT to probe the police personnel who were negligent in the Shraddha case.?
However, action in this regard has yet to be taken.?
Aaftab Poonawala allegedly murdered her live-in partner Shraddha Walkar on May 18, 2022, at their rented flat in Mehrauli after they argued.?
Poonawala diced up the deceased's body into 35 pieces and disposed of it across the city over several days.?
The saw and blade, allegedly used to chop up the body, were reportedly thrown in the bushes at a part of Gurugram. And the meat cleaver, as reported, was dumped in a dustbin in south Delhi.?
The crime came to light gradually after Shraddha's father went to the police in their hometown in Maharashtra sometime in October.? ??
