A quarantine centre in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad witnessed ruckus after bar dancers at the facility demanded liquor from health workers. A?video of the incident has also gone viral.?
The bar dancers had allegedly demanded alcohol?from health workers and had also started dancing in the corridors of the quarantine centre.?The bar dancers and their associates are from Mumbai.
As per a report in Times of India, they had arrived in Moradabad in a truck from Mumbai's Mira Road. The police had seized?the truck and registered an FIR against the owner.?
The health workers said that the accused started dancing after their demand for beer was not met. The bar dancers and their allies also asked the health officials to let them go home, TOI reported.?
6 bar dancers have been booked for under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.?
Police lodged the case under section 147 (rioting), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 352 (punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation), 504 (intentional insults), 188 (disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant) and 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC.
It is being said that the facility is holding 72 persons who came to Moradabad from Mumbai, five days ago and were quarantined at the place. Out of the 72 quarantined persons, 5 have tested positive for coronavirus. Out of the 72 persons, 12 are children, 20 are men and 40 are women.
This is the second episode of a quarantine centre witnessing fracas. Earlier on Tuesday, in?a video that went viral, migrant workers were seen enjoying a dance performance reportedly at a quarantine centre at Karrakh village in Bihar's Samastipur district.
The dance performance was said to have been organised by a local leader as part of a ¡°cultural programme¡± to entertain over 80 migrants quarantined at the centre on Monday night.
In the video, at least four women are seen dancing to music under night bulbs as the inmates watch. The dancers were said to be brought from outside the district.
Later, the local administration said strict action would be taken against those found guilty after a probe.
