Jigar's mother Jasiben Bhagwandas alleged that the four men, who also are residents of the same village attacked her son because he allowed Dalits at his shop, defying the men.
Some ten days ago the upper caste had allegedly asked Jigar no to cut the hair of dalits, which he refused.
Based on Jasiben's complaint, police have arrested four men for the attack.
While the village does not have a history of violence or discrimination against dalits, there have been number of cases in the state in the past.
Dalits have been beaten up and even killed for as petty reasons like having a mustache, wearing shoes and attending garba.
