Nearly two weeks after the Karnataka Transport Department suspended the licence of cab aggregator Ola for allegedly violating norms and running a bike taxi service, the authorities have begun a crackdown on another two wheeler taxi - Rapido.
According to the transport department, the two-wheeler taxi which was operating in Bengaluru was illegal. Since the crackdown began at least 170 Rapido bike-taxis have been seized by the authorities.?

The Transport Department, in a police complaint, stated that no companies have been given licence to operate bike taxis as it violates the Motor Vehicle Act and threatens the safety of passengers.?

Earlier, the Transport Department had suspended the licence of Ola for six months, and fined Rs 15 lakh, but it was revoked days later.
Ola has since moved the Karnataka High Court against the state transport department for non-issuance of a licence to operate two-wheeler taxis in the state.
