According to police, as the people forced him to construct toilet at home, he apparently cited financial crisis and sought more time but the issue later turned into heated argument after which he was brutally beaten and stabbed to death.
While everyone in Maharajpur of Rajnandgaon district was enjoying 'jagrata' during Navratra, nearly 14 people, all of same family, barged into the house of Vipin, dragged him out and beat him with iron rod, spade and other weapons in front of whole village. This led to his death while his wife who intervened for his rescue sustained injuries.
Rajnandgaon additional SP Shashimohan Singh said, "13 persons including five women have been arrested and one is still at large. The issue started from compulsory construction on toilet at home at a panchayat on August 20 when the locals started forcing Vipin Sahu, 35, to build toilet within specific time. The conversation soon turned into argument when Vipin asked for time till Diwali but one Ramanik Sahu used abusive language against him before the villagers that hurt Vipin's ego."

Known for his aggression and drinking habits, Vipin took this insult to heart and started threatening Ramanik and his family wherever he spotted them saying 'Dekh lunga' (I will see you).
In another meeting on Oct 3, the argument got heated up on the same issue and Vipin passed some comments to his family members on October 5.
Singh added that the accused in their statement said that his threats were creating a lot of pressure on the family, hence, they had all planned it to kill him in front of the village.
"When Vipin was being beaten up, no one from the village came forward for his rescue and he died. Meanwhile, the family tried to twist and frame the whole issue accusing Vipin of molesting the women and after an hour, six women from Sahu family came to the police station to surrender saying that they had killed Vipin because he often molested them," ASP added.
When police reached the spot of crime, the eye-witnesses and Vipin's wife narrated the details of incident who said that 14 people including six women of Ramanik Sahu's family killed Vipin.
Soon all the accused were arrested under Section of 302, 147, 148 and 149 of the IPC except one who is at large.
