In order to curb the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the national capital, the state government has revised its COVID plan and decided to screen every house by July 6.
On June 23, Delhi saw the biggest single-day spike? in cases of coronavirus after it crossed the 66,000-mark. Delhi has surpassed Tamil Nadu and is now the second worst-affected state after Maharashtra in terms of number of cases.
As part of the government's 'Delhi Covid Response Plan' to control the spread of coronavirus, all containment zones will be reviewed, redesigned by June 26 and the screening of every house in these zones will be done by June 30.
The plan states that the screening of the rest will be completed by July 6.
Per the latest guidelines, symptomatic contacts and asymptomatic high-risk contacts will be tested between 5th and 10th day of contact.
The government has also decided to declare an area a containment zone around the house and workplace of COVID-19 positive patients within 24 hours. The new guidelines state that COVID positive patients or cluster cases in the highly-dense areas will be sent to COVID Care Centres.
Police will be deployed to ensure people maintain social distancing and do not get together in containment zones. Additionally, administration will provide all necessary services inside these zones.
The government will also deploy drones and install CCTVs to monitor movement inside containment zones in Delhi. Those violating new norms will be penalised.
