The ongoing farmers' protests are unlike anything that the country has seen in a long time and even after two months and seeing a lot of ups and downs it is not showing any signs of slowing down.
Even after the violence in the capital last week, the protest is still going strong and the support for it is only growing, especially in the hinterlands from where most of the protesters have come from.
A newlywed couple from Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand from where thousands of farmers have joined the protests at Ghazipur border showed their support on their wedding day.
The couple, Sivaljeet Singh and Sandeep Kaur tied the knot at a simple ceremony on Saturday night in a gurudwara in Bazpur.
But the wedding stood out for its show of support for protesting farmers.
According to a report in The Times of India, the wedding had songs supporting the farmers¡¯ cause and the attendees raised slogans in support of the protests.
The newlyweds also returned from the wedding venue on a tractor instead of a car.
¡°We did not spend lavishly on the wedding. The money we saved will be donated to gurdwaras arranging langar for protesting farmers,¡± Tarsem Singh, the bride¡¯s father told The Times of India.
Sivaljeet Singh, the groom said he was at the Ghazipur border last week and was pained by the struggles of the protesters.
?¡°Thousands of farmers have been protesting for two months at various Delhi borders for the past two months and are yet to be heard. I narrated their ordeal to my fianc¨¦e and as both of us hail from farmers¡¯ families, we decided to show them support through our wedding,¡± he told The Times of India.
