Dabbawalas in Mumbai have successfully delivered lunches across the city for many decades now - everyday in every season. They ensure nobody goes hungry for the day by being there on time.
The dabbawalas are all set now to launch their own start-up business - in the food processing sector. They will now supply organic vegetables for those who prefer their veggies pesticide-free. A representative of the president of the Mumbai dabbawalas Ritesh Andre, recently revealed plans for their business and said the start-up will supply organic produce.??

Subhash Talekar, spokesperson for the Mumbai dabbawalas explained that they have decided to do so considering that the city is already polluted and the food they eat is full of pesticides; and they want people to eat healthier. "In a city like Mumbai, all the vegetation that grows has high amount of pesticide in it, and the quality of the products is also sometimes questionable," he said.
Some of the dabbawalas themselves visited farmers who grow crops with natural pesticides and refrain from using any chemicals which would poison their produce. "We have started already since the last one month. We will ourselves deliver organic produce on their doorstep. People just have to contact one of us or look at our website malharnature.com. We wish to promote a healthier living for the city," he said.
